About Us
Growing up, my father owned a flooring, paint and decorating store. Everyone in the family was expected to work for the store in some capacity. While I didn't have much interest in "selling", I loved learning and helping with the accounting.
I went on to earn my Bachelor's degree in Accounting at St. John Fisher College, during which time my sister and brother-in-law bought the business from my father. While focusing on making the business a success, my sister didn't have enough time to devote to learning about the accounting system. She often asked me for help and advice, always telling me she knew she needed help, but didn't think she could afford to hire someone with the right experience on a full-time basis. The more I talk to Business Owners, the more people I find in the same situation. Owners need someone with the knowledge and experience, but don't need someone full-time, and don't think they can afford to pay their CPA firm's rates. This is where a contract CFO can help!
After College, I spent 25 years in the corporate accounting field, working as the CFO at one of the Rochester area's top Auto Dealer Groups. My work experience includes everything from basic bookkeeping like accounts payable and receivables, bank reconciliations, payroll and benefits administration, and cost accounting to high-level corporate financial management and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, human resources, financial statement preparation, reporting, sales tax compliance, audit support, and sale and acquisition transactions.
When it was time for me to leave the corporate world, I knew I wanted to get back to what I love the most about accounting, which is providing accurate and timely financial data so Owners can make informed decisions to grow their business. Being able to offer my services to small Business Owners on a contract basis - whether that's a few hours a week or just a few hours a month, at a cost that fits their budget - is truly my passion.
